Do you have to accept payments through our system?
We would prefer that you handle payments through our system, but we will not prevent you from arranging payment outside of our system. If you arrange payment through our system, we will arrange shipping/installation if desired, and you have access to buyer/seller protections including transaction monitoring and payment supervision by Chefmark.
How do I know my banking information is safe?
All marketplace transactions are run through Stripe and PayPal payment gateways. They are both Payment Card Industry-compliant - the PCI security standard is one used by major card providers including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. We do not store or process any credit card information.
How do I know they won’t cancel payment after they pick up the product?
If payment is arranged through Chefmark, the payment is made by the buyer at the start of the transaction and is released by Chefmark to the seller once the transaction is completed. The buyer can't cancel payment once the order is shipped (or picked up).
Are there any safeguards for seller?
Yes, but only if payment is arranged through Chefmark. We will subsidize return shipping and also mediate any disputes. Chefmark monitors transaction flows and supervises payment, preventing buyers from cancelling payment after placing the order.
